The Sahel is a mobile space where conflicts were part of historical formations of society. In this book project we explore the mobility of this space, as also a form of networking, in relation to history of conflict. We describe mobility and networking from 1800 to the present, where social media have taken over part of the mobility through travel. We are especially interested in how mobility and conflict are pairs of the same coin that can also incite peace. Focus will be on the practice of participatory warfare, that is how do people participate in war, not only by acting as soldiers, but also by intangible forms of participating.
